Activities :  ” Agriculture Forestry Fishery Workcamp” offer volunteers great opportunities to experience  local lifestyle in a true Vietnamese countryside, wild forest and sea, work in an amazing outdoors with true agricultural settings. You will work like a local, take part in a range of activities such as feeding animals, planting & taking care of mangrove forest trees,  harvesting sea products and teaching English to local children.  So we are based on Agriculture Forestry Fishery sectors

Working schedule : Monday to Friday, 4 – 6 hours a day

Agriculture Forestry Fishery Workcamp Overview

Have you ever experienced life as a farmer in a coastal area with a combination of continual agriculture, forestry and fishery? VVS has designed an “Agriculture Forestry Fishery Workcamp” aim to offer new experiences for volunteers through practical activities of program, calling for the protection of the natural environment and building sustainable farming practices for people living in the vicinity of the world’s biosphere –Xuan Thuy National Park.


  • Joining in harvesting clams
  • Participating in activities of collecting MG snails, a PG species eat young rice plant, and cause the rice field quickly disappear.
  • Planting trees for expanding area of mangroves.
  • Taking part in homestay activities, help families raise livestock and poultry.
  • Participating in the activities of aquaculture skills, skills in agriculture and animal husbandry skills of people here.
  • You’ll gain valuable cultural insight and work closely with the local community

Our mission is to bring a meaningful program for youth all over the world, particularly, bring an opportunity for participants to experience about natural wildlife, agriculture and fishery in the Vietnamese countryside.
We aim to give a chance to participants to imporve their personal skill and  give back our community.

We also promote respect of wild forest, protect the environment and its surroundings and develop organic food

Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi city (Noi Bai airport)
This is the first day you come to Vietnam joining in our project. VVS staff will pick you up from Noi Bai airport and take you to your hotel in Hanoi. You are free at leisure.

Day 2

We will take a local bus to the homestay which will be your home during your stay in  our project. After that, you can take a rest. If there is still time, we will have a short orientation at the homestay to go through procedures for your stay and get involved in the project.We will show you how to be safe during the trip. Moreover, you can spend time getting acquainted with the local people, visiting the workplace and staff whom you will work with.

From Day 3 to the end of duration (Working day only)

From Day 3, you will be working with  full-time support of Vietnamese staff members and will be involved in a variety of tasks that will be scheduled for you in every day. You join in the farm works and help local people plant trees, vegetables; feed the animals and harvest sea products…  Everything will be run smoothly if you are actively working. It is important that you should work with the locals in a friendly way, try the best you can to help and you feel how happy you are.

If you are a native English speaker, an option to  give some English lesson for locals. It is a great opportunity for them, especially for local students to practice English with foreigners, which is a good way to improve their English quickly

(Saturday & Sunday): You are at leisure during the weekend
It is very interesting to take a tour around the village by hiking or riding a bike. Bike for rent  is available and you can do all activities by your own

In addition, if you want to travel to other fascinating destination in Vietnam, VVS can also give the best advice on where to go, what to do or offer the best services for you. We ensure that you will be excited if you  travel at the weekend because Vietnam is a fascinating, beautiful country. There are a lot of things to see and to do on your trip.

Your Final day

You will have a small farewell party to say goodbye to all your new friends, take your final photos and pack  your souvenirs in your bag. You’ll get back Hanoi. Otherwise, you can stay for a further travel plan. The return transfer from your accommodation in Hanoi to Noi Bai airport is not covered within your project fee, VVS  is able to make recommendations and help you arrange a transfer if necessary. You should budget approximately US$12 for this trip.

What does the project do?

This special program is an opportunity for volunteers to experience how hard local works by getting involved in their daily life tasks. Besides, we wish to offer all volunteers a meaningful volunteer program combined with ecological tourism, refreshment and cultural exchange opportunities.

During the work camp, volunteers will have as  many chances  to interact with locals, learn more about their culture and tradition as well as help the community preserve their unique living environment and ecosystem in Xuan Thuy national park. A “culture-exchange day” will be held to promote the understanding between international volunteers and Vietnamese

Through the year, various trips are arranged for volunteers. The objectives of the excursions are to be fun but more important to protect ecosystems in Xuan Thuy National Park. The trips include water parks, walking and beach trips or tree plantings in the small islands. Volunteers will go with the local Youth Union by boat to collect waste in water parks and see the beauty of natural ecosystem with a variety of plants and bird species in the National Park


The site of programs is located adjacent to Xuan Thuy National Park which is a Mangroves of  Vietnam and the world’s biosphere in Ramsar conventions. Pristine mangrove forests are biodiversity-ecosystem with rich vegetation. It is the home of migratory birds during the winter, and is home to thousands of rare animals in the red book world. Simultaneously with the cultivated cultural characteristics of the people here has become a tradition, creating a cultural village characterized by agriculture, forestry and fishery.

Role of Volunteer
Volunteers play an important role in the success of the workcamp. Volunteers will participate in activities to help people in the farm chores, are directly involved in activities within the framework of the workcamp. At the same time, volunteers are the source of encouragement for building an image of nature protection zones around national biosphere.

  • Spirit: love nature; love to explore, to experience life, ready to get your hand dirty

Activities and schedule
Activities and schedule will be set by VVS or the inquiries, suggestion from participants. The plan will be finalised before your departure. All of the activity plans will be sent to let participants know via email.

Project resources and advice

All  support for activities at the project site will be provided by VVS and locals. You only need to bring  your belongings  such as trekking boot, sun block, hat, anti-insect repellent, sunglasses, rain coat, toiletries, original passport . On the other hand, we would like to advise you to bring clothing which is suitable for different seasons in Vietnam. There are four seasons in the North of Vietnam: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. It is really hot in Summer, cool in Autumn and warm in the Spring, and really cold in the winter. When you plan to go to Vietnam , you should check the time and weather before hand.

Cameras and laptop will be very helpful for you to record all interesting things and memorable moment. As you have free time, a book also helps you relax.


You will be living amongst local in the homestay to experience a day in the life of a Vietnamese family. You’ll live, eat, work & cook with locals.  it is really comfortable accommodation with WIFI, hot shower, western toilet and basic amenities. Don’t expect too much on the homestay.


Vietnam features one of the most diverse and tasty cuisines in the world, and you can expect to eat simply but well during your placement. Every day, you receive breakfast, lunch and dinner. Cooks prepare a wide-range of Vietnamese dishes exclusively for the volunteers.
