What does the project do?
The hill-tribe groups of Vietnam are a collection of diverse, exotic communities. Despite the natural beauty of their environment they have some of the lowest standards of living, health and education in the country. Many young people from these communities do not attend school and begin working at a very young age.
VVS organizes workcamp with meaningful volunteer program to help local people and bring volunteers unforgettable experience of the real life with totally different cultures and lifestyles of ethnic minorities in the Northern Vietnam by staying and working with the villagers.
Why we need volunteer?
The project is meaningful for the participants to make a different way to help the local community and protect the environment. The activities in the project are mainly operated by both Vietnamese and International volunteers in the local area of the North of Vietnam.
Furthermore, there are a number of places should be covered by trees; Volunteer will plant trees. It is a good chance to raise a campain call “Enviroment Conservation”. Culture exchange by communicating between volunteers and local people will help the minority ethnic people learn more about life all over the world. It makes a different for local people to change their life positively.
A variety of activities will be operated by volunteers in flexible time with 4 hours per day. Some other time you may wish to enjoy Sapa by trekking around. You will have time to experience the way of life from local people and also give them some ideas how to improve their life skills, and bring them more opportunities for better life in their ethnic minority families.
It is very important that all volunteers are willing to work with minority ethnic people! Volunteers must be highly motivated which is the first and the most important reason for volunteer.
Volunteers must be over 18 years old. This can be either university studies (a degree is not necessary) or relevant working experience.
Participant should have good health to stay in the mountainous area.
The school is very poor at present so that they need a lot of support from volunteers. For example, providing study materials such as pens, books, notebooks, toys, and anything good for students. It will be very helpful for us if you have a guidebook sharing some information of your country, the students can learn more your country and also get their knowledge about the outside world.
VVS’s staff will help volunteer find the accommodation best suits their requirements and budget. Homestay is available> It costs approximately $89 per week depending on holiday season; it is really comfortable accommodation with basic facilities.
You can order from the homestay owner . Each meal costs no more than 2 US dollar.
