What does the Help locals in Sapa project project do?
The hill-tribe groups of Vietnam are a collection of diverse, exotic communities. Despite the natural beauty of their environment they have some of the lowest standards of living, health and education in the country. Many young people from these communities do not attend school and begin working at a very young age.
VVS organizes workcamps with meaningful volunteer program to help local people and bring volunteers unforgettable experience of the real life with totally different cultures and lifestyles of ethnic minorities in the Northern Vietnam by staying and working with local villagers.
Why we need volunteer?
The project is meaningful experience for the participants to make a difference to help the local community and protect the environment. The activities in the project are mainly operated by both Vietnamese and International volunteers in Northern Vietnam
Furthermore, there are a number of places which should be covered by trees; Volunteers will help with planting trees. It is a good chance to organize a campaign call “Environmental Conservation”. Cultural exchange by communicating between volunteers and local people will help the minority ethnic people learn more about different cultures all over the world. It makes a great impact for locals to change their life positively.
A variety of activities will be operated by volunteers in flexible working timetables working 4 hours per day. You may like to explore beautiful landscapes as well as experience the local way of life on your own at your leisure. You can also advise them how to improve their life skills, and bring them more opportunities for better lives among the community.
It is very important that all volunteers are willing to work with minority ethnic people! Volunteers must be highly motivated which is the first and the most important reason for volunteer.
Volunteers must be over 18 years old. They can be either university studies (a degree is not necessary) or have relevant working experience.
We also advise that you have a reasonable level of fitness in order to take part in all activities.
The school welcomes support and donations from volunteers due to the poor condition. For example, providing study materials such as pens, books, notebooks, toys, and something good for students. You’d better bring a guidebook or something similar to introduce your country to students so that they will have a better understandings of your country as well as knowledge of the outside world
You will have your own dorm bed in a communal house. You will be living amongst local in the homestay to experience a day in the life of a Vietnamese family. You’ll live, eat, work & cook with locals. it is really comfortable accommodation with WIFI, hot shower, western toilet and basic amenities. Don’t expect too much on the homestay.
