Eco-tourism and community development intership

Overview

Are you wondering where to go for your real experience of your study and your future career? In this project, participants will take a research trip in a village in the  Northwest Vietnam where is the most pristine beauty and biodiversity as well. Staying with local people in homestay, directly working in peaceful village and experiencing all kind of eco-tours over there with the support of local people, you  will have a full experience in your study, and it also give you creative ideas in order to help local develop their own business.

What the project says

• Our mission is to bring a meaningful program for youth all over the world in their internship, particularly, give an opportunity for students to experience with a real woking environment related to the field of their study, challenge with the task and study case in a new land where they will work with new people.

• We also promote respect of  a helping hand for local people by giving their initiative idea from their research.

Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi city (Noi Bai airport)
It is the first day you come to Vietnam joining in our project. VVS staff will pick you up from Noi Bai airport and take you to your hotel in Hanoi. You are free at leisure.

Day 2
We will take a local bus to the homestay where it will be your home during your staying in  our project. After that, you can take a rest. If this day still remains in working time, we will have a short orientation at the homestay for all needed procedure for your stay and get involved in the project.We will show you how to be safe in the trips. Then, you will have time to visit and say hello to local people, visit workplace and staffs whom you will work with. The time for this will complete a day early and then you have time to discover surroundings area.

From Day 3 to the end of the duration (Working day only)
From Day 3, you will be working with  full time support of Vietnamese staff members and will be involved in a variety of tasks that will be scheduled for you in every day. You will join in researching the condition of eco-tourism system surround the village, work with local people and help them promote eco-tourism programs, help family creat information, improve home stay condition… Everything would be great if you could run it smoothly, Everything will be run smoothly if you are active working, it is very helpful for you to make a friendly way to work with local people, give them the best and you will be very happy to work with them.

(Saturday & Sunday): This is the weekend and you are free at leisure.
It will be a flexible time for you to choose travel somewhere in Vietnam or the place you want to go. On our website, it is very interesting for you to take a tour around and meet new people, learn new thing and do some shopping.
In addition, if you want to go some beautiful places in Vietnam, VVS can also give you the best advice where to go, what to do or offer best services for you. We ensure that you won’t be bored if you decide to travel at the weekend because Vietnam is a fascinating, beautiful country. There are a lot of things to see and to do on your trip.

Your Final day
Have a small farewell party to say goodbye to all your new friends, take your final photos and pack  full of souvenirs in your bag. You’ll get back Hanoi. Otherwise, you can stay for a further travel plan. The return transfer from your accommodation to Noi Bai airport is not covered within your project fee, VVS  is able to make recommendations and help you arrange a transfer if necessary. You should budget approximately US$25 for this trip.

What does the project do?

VVS run the project to give opportunities for students to conduct their internship in Vietnam.

Through this program, it not only helps the students finish their research, but also achieve personal goals as well as develope their future career. During their internship, with the practical tasks and real project site, student will work directly with the local people and local organization, take a research and see by your own eyes how people live and how the nature is; combining with the knowledge they learnt from school, you will get the best result . By helping local people improve their service, it  give students practical experience and skills.

What’s the project like?

You will find out local people are willing to paticipate questionnaires and interviews. It is a great time for cultural exchange as well as experiencing new lifestyle and natural beauty in a nice country like Vietnam.

Activities and schedule

Activities and schedule will be set by VVS or the inquiries, suggestion from participants. The plan will be fixed before your departure. All of the activity plans will be sent and let participants know via email.

Project resources and advice

All the things  for activities in the trip will be provided by VVS and locals. Besides, you should prepare necessary belongings for the trip such as trekking boot, sun block, hat, anti-insect repellent, sunglasses, rain coat, toiletries, original passport … . If you need something special for your trip and research, it is better to contact us before hand to prepare it for you. Otherwise, you can bring it yourselves from  home.

What type of accommodation will I be in?

Homestay is basic with western style toilet but no hot shower. Up to your budget, we will find out accommodation suit your budget.

Food

You can ask local family to cook for you otherwise you cook yourself. You should budget approximately $91 per week for food and homestay.

In some days, the journey will take a whole day, then foods should be prepared before departure and VVS staff will help you choose the best food or where we can buy it for our journeys. Taking part in the journey, it will waste much energy  so you should make sure that food will suit to you to have good health for the trip.

Things to bring from home

If you are working in the project between May and September, please ensure that you bring some short and cool clothes, and some warm clothes for some cold nights. Although the day light are usually bright and sunny, nights and early mornings can be cold. Finally, don’t forget some books and other entertainment equiments for relaxing in the evenings.
